Executive Summary
The EU Health Council sees new research and telematics programmes as potential useful tools to help explore issues concerning the mobility of patients in Europe. Patient mobility and the desire to have access to high quality health services is a reality creating more interaction between the health systems of the EU, it stated at the Health Council meeting in Luxembourg on June 26. It therefore welcomes the work on creating a simplified framework to support this, recognising that patient mobility presents particular challenges in terms of the need to exchange clinical and other information to ensure proper follow-up and continuity of care.
