Executive Summary
The Danish Centre for Evaluation and Health Technology Assessment is to send alerts not only to leading health professionals but also to politicians and civil servants about the expected consequences for the healthcare sector of new and upcoming technologies. It will assess some 10 technologies a year, according to the newsletter of the Danish medical device industry association (DMDA), and aim to distribute its notices before the technologies are due to be used routinely. The technologies will be assessed in terms of their clinical efficiency, their organisational and economic consequences, and their impact on the daily life of patients.
