CardioOptics, of Boulder, Colorado, has raised $3m in its first round of financing. The company will use the funds to complete development of it Trans-Blood Vision system, a technology which allows surgeons to see directly through blood. The technology uses infrared illumination and fibre-optics to create real-time video images of vessel interiors and other cardiac structures where blood is present and flowing.
