In Denmark, the number of coronary bypass operation and percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty procedures rose from 8,000 in 2000 to about 9,000 in 2001, according to the Danish Medical Device Industry association, DMDA. Total health expenditure by the Danish government for 2000 was DKr 82.6 billion ($10.3 billion) of which DKr 49.1 billion was allocated to hospitals.
