Denmark's hospitals cut down on PVC and phthalates

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Denmark's hospitals are making a concerted effort to cut the number of medical products they use that contain PVC or phthalates, health minister Lars Lcentkke Rasmussen claimed last week. Mr Lcentkke Rasmussen added, however, that health ministry research had shown that there was no hospital in the country that was "PVC- or phthalate-free". "As long as there is no acceptable alternative that has the same functionality in terms of flexibility and impenetrability, hospitals must consider patients' health a priority [and continue to use them]," he said.
