Executive Summary
Cell Robotics International plans to introduce its infant lasette healstick for drawing capillary blood from infant's heels later this year. The device, a modification of the firm's lasette finger perforator, vaporises the heel skin in a pinpoint manner. This avoids problems associated with existing blood collection methods, such as excessive puncture depth and contamination of the blood sample with wound debris, said the Albuquerque, New Mexico firm, which plans to submit an FDA 510(k) application by October 2002.
