Computer aided diagnostic (CAD) systems could increase the chances of detecting abnormalities in the breast during mammography by up to 30%, delegates at the 83rd German Radiology conference were told last week in Wiesbaden. At the same time, experts warned that, although CAD would increase the speed and quality of the diagnosis, it was not designed to replace but to assist the radiologist.
