EU enlargement candidate countries endorsed the European Charter for Small Businesses at a conference in Slovenia, held from April 23-24. The Charter sets out policy guidelines in ten areas. These include access to finance, better legislation and regulation and access to innovation and technology. Significantly for the candidate countries, they are cover single market opportunities, and better representation for small business interest at national and EU levels.
