Irvine, California-based Cardiac Science, which develops automated public access defibrillators (AEDs), is to supply the Dutch city of Maastricht with its new Powerheart AED. This forms part of the Netherlands' first municipal public access defibrillation programme. The Dutch government has amended national legislation, allowing lay people to use AEDs in an emergency.
