PECA (Protocol to the European Agreements on European Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products) move dents EU's Czech market hopes

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

There is to be no medical device trade agreement between the EU and the Czech Republic. The Czech government has given up efforts at developing a Protocol to the European Agreements on European Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (PECA) on the grounds that the Czech Republic's accession to the European Union is not far away. Indeed, the Czech Republic hopes to be among the first wave of countries from Central and Eastern Europe to join the EU in 2004.
