Spanish drive to promote prostate screening

Executive Summary
All Spanish men aged between 50 and 75 years should undergo annual prostate screening - based on the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test and manual rectal examination - to reduce the incidence of the disease. All suspect cases should then be followed up with a transrectal ultrasound and a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. So says the Spanish urology association (AEU) in a position paper that calls for better information to be made available on the importance of early detection of the disease through regular screening.
