Executive Summary
Scotland has brought forward the implementation of new targets for the provision of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, reducing guaranteed maximum waits from 24 weeks to 18. This target will apply from the end of June 2004, rather than by the end of December 2004. Of the almost 400 patients waiting for CABG surgery at June 30, almost 300 had been waiting up to 12 weeks and 22 had been waiting for over 18 weeks.
