CooperSurgical gets Norland's bone densitometry line

Executive Summary

Norland Medical Systems is to exit the bone densitometry market by selling this part of its business to women's health company CooperSurgical for up to $12 million. CooperSurgical will pay $5 million on completion, with the remainder based on performance. It will also assume certain liabilities. CooperSurgical has been exclusive US distributor of Norland's products, which include central and peripheral measurement systems, since November 2000.
