Siemens Medical Solutions has launched in the US its MAGNETOM Trio-3T whole body MRI scanner for use in pediatrics and adults, after receiving FDA 510(k) clearance for the product. The FDA decision makes the firm the second, after GE Medical Systems, to gain US approval for such a device. Siemens says that the machine, which is already available in Europe, can be used for scanning small vascular pathologies, musculoskeletal diseases, and tumours where early detection can greatly improve patient outcomes.
