This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has money set aside in its 2003 fiscal budget that will be used to administer the award of federal research dollars for embryonic stem cell research, Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson told reporters last week. The NIH said in mid-January that it is currently awarding reviewing applications for additional funds for stem cell research from researcher's with existing grants and expects to award new research project grants in July.
