Executive Summary
The Omani minister for health, Dr Ali bin Mohammed bin Moosa, last week signed an agreement for the construction of the new Ibra referral hospital, with the Bahwan Contracting Company. In addition to delivery and emergency departments and outpatient clinics, the hospital will include an X-ray department, renal dialysis unit and an intensive care unit. It will cover some an area of some 30,000 square metres and will have a capacity of 2,000 beds. To be built at a cost of OR15 million ($39 million), the hospital is part of Sultan Qaboos' directives to improve healthcare for citizens in outlying areas.
