Executive Summary
Jordan's new King Abdullah hospital was due to open in the city of Irbid at the end of January. General director Rowaida Maaitah said, however, that the hospital would not immediately be fully operational. "It is a huge project, and opening a hospital with a capacity of 650 beds is not an easy process," she told the Jordan Times. Among the service initially on offer, the hospital will provide clinical services in kidney dialysis, gynaecology and paediatrics. It is not yet fully equipped and is receiving bids to purchase more mobile medical equipment.
