Endoscopic heart bypass trial starts in the US:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Intuitive Surgical has begun a multicentre clinical trial in the US to assess use of its robotic surgery system in closed-chest, totally endoscopic coronary artery bypass (TECAB) surgery. TECAB procedures performed using the da Vinci system require only three or four pencil-sized holes made between the ribs. Through these holes, two robotic "arms" and a camera system gain exposure to the heart, allowing the surgeon to perform surgery without opening the chest, says the Mountain View, California firm.
