Executive Summary
Early diagnosis of HIV infection is a key topic in the latest call for proposals by the Spanish foundation for AIDS research and prevention (FIPSE). This fourth round of projects is also likely to feature work on the epidemiological and clinical considerations surrounding coinfections involving HIV and hepatotropic viruses and tuberculosis. Proposals will be assessed according to scientific merit, relevance to the healthcare setting, viability and involvement of regional research institutions, the Spanish health ministry said last week. The ministry oversees the FIPSE. The deadline for the submission of proposals is February 28. Over the last three years, FIPSE (www.fipse.com) has funded 86 research projects, worth almost E8 million ($7.1million).
