Executive Summary
The number of medical licences granted to doctors in Sweden rose by 12% last year compared with the previous year. The increase in licences, to 1,329, comes mainly as the result of an influx of doctors who have qualified outside Sweden. In 2001 this figure was 588, or roughly 44% of those granted licences in the country. In 2000 this figure was lower, at 448, corresponding to 36% of all licences.
