US pharmacy benefit management giant AdvancePCS is to supply TheraSense's FreeStyle blood glucose monitoring product. Mark Lortz, president and CEO of Alameda, California-based TheraSense, says the deal will be a "big step forward" in addressing the company's desire to increase its presence in the managed care area. FreeStyle, which was launched in the US in June 2000, is distributed through national retailers such as Wal-Mart and Rite Aid. The company describes it as "virtually pain-free".
