Executive Summary
The EU accession countries will be bound by the same requirements as the current EU countries to notify the Commission and all other member states of any draft technical regulations that do not form part of their transposition of EU law. They will then have to allow for a three-month standstill while the other parties have a chance to comment and, if necessary, to act. Eight countries signed into this agreement with the EU at the end of September. Cyprus and Hungary are expected to soon.
