Executive Summary

The new expert draft copy of the German diagnosis related groups (DRG) system hospital reimbursement catalogue was published last week in Berlin and, so far, has come up against no real opposition. Secretary of state Klaus Theo Schroder said that the catalogue represented a decisive step towards the full introduction of the obligatory system on January 1 2004.
