Norwegian health minister Dagfinn Hoybraten has appointed a committee to investigate the health service and authorities handling of patients who may have been infected with the hepatitis C virus (HCV) through blood transfusions before 1994. The move comes after revelations earlier this spring that some 1,000-1,500 may have been infected before 1991 and that no efforts have as yet been made to locate them to offer them medical support.
