Executive Summary
Cardiac Science, an Irvine, California manufacturer of automated external cardiac defibrillators, has just signed a deal with global giant GE Medical Systems. GEMS' Information Technologies division will market Cardiac Science's products under its own name in markets outside the US. The agreement covers automated external defibrillators, as well as fully automatic defibrillator-monitors used in hospitals. Cardiac Science will also make a line of biphasic external defibrillators for exclusive sale by GEMS worldwide. It will start shipping products in autumn 2003. Cardiac Science recently reported a second-quarter net loss of $2m (down from $3.8m) on sales of $14.5m (+13%).
