Executive Summary
The US FDA has accepted for review R2 Technology's premarket approval application (PMA) for its computer-aided detection (CAD) system for pinpointing lung nodules in chest CT images. The ImageChecker CT CAD system increases a physician's detection accuracy through the use of algorithms that automatically detect potential areas of interest in multi-detector CT images of the chest, says the Sunnyvale, California firm. It was introduced commercially in Europe in March 2003.
