HTAi (Health Technology Assessment International) injects new strength into medtech assessment

"Knowledge is a good medicine for healthcare." This is, in the words of health technology assessment (HTA) expert Alicia Granados, the philosophy behind the creation of Health Technology Assessment International (HTAi), which was officially launched at the 19th annual meeting of the International Society of Technology Assessment in Health Care (ISTAHC), in Canmore, Canada, on June 22-25. The HTAi, which now effectively replaces ISTAHC, was formally launched on June 25, after a 12-month development within a transitional Committee for a New International Society for Health Technology Assessment (CNSHTA). Having chaired both these bodies, Ms Granados is now expected to head the HTAi.
