Danish mammography waiting times scrutinised:

Executive Summary
Recent negative reports in the press concerning lengthy waiting times for mammography in Denmark have prompted the health service to carry out an investigation. The health service has since advised the individual county councils that it is their responsibility to keep the service informed as to the capacity of those hospital departments that deal with life-threatening diseases. With increased waiting times for mammography particularly evident in the capital, the health service is reminding councils that should they find their own departments over-subscribed, they should immediately refer patients to other councils. If this is not possible, they must report to the health service directly, which will then send the patient to a private hospital, or abroad.
