Executive Summary
The implications of genetic screening is one of the key issues on the agenda at the seventh conference of European Health Ministers on June 12 and 13. The meeting, entitled Health, Dignity and Human Rights will also discuss the organisation and financing of healthcare services, as well as how to forge alliances between countries to respond effectively on a pan-European level to global health threats, such as the SARS virus. The conference is expected to call on the Council of Europe to pursue and intensify its work on the social, ethical and human rights dimension in the planning, delivery and availability of healthcare.
