Executive Summary
Negligence claims settled by the NHS in England in 2001-02 totalled £446m ($693m). The "vast majority" of these were due to childbirth-related problems, such as oxygen starvation, the UK National Audit Office (NAO) told Clinica. It could not, however, provide a breakdown of the areas most likely to benefit from better use of technology to improve outcomes, such as prenatal diagnostics and foetal monitoring during delivery.
