Analytik Jena, which manufactures analytical instrumentation technology for life sciences, biotechnology, environmental and energy technology, increased its sales by 10% during the first quarter of 2002-03. The Jena, Germany-based company said that domestic sales had fallen by 20.7% to E14.2m for the first quarter. Sales in the company's analytical solutions and bioanalytical solutions business units fell slightly to E6.3m, compared with E6.7m during the same period for 2001/-02. In contrast, exports more than tripled to E8.16, compared with E2.5m for the same period last year. It now makes more than a third of its sales outside Germany.
