The National Health Service in Scotland is to get £27m ($43m) over the next three years to acquire linear accelerators and positron emission tomography (PET) units, after being awarded budget increases of up to 20% per year to improve equipment and services over this period. The capital investment programme announced on March 18 2003 will see the current £275m budget rise to £420m in 2005-06.
