Abbott Diagnostics is to invest E230m ($251m) in expanding manufacturing facilities in Ireland, the UK and Germany. The investment will also involve the creation of a new plant in Longford, Ireland. The developments will create 1,200 new jobs over five years, with half that figure to be recruited by the end of next year.
