Executive Summary
Radiant Medical has reported promising results from a trial to assess its Reprieve endovascular temperature therapy system in treating ischaemic stroke patients through cooling. The 40-patient study, COOL-AID II, which the firm claims is the first to use the blood-cooling technology in stroke patients, showed that cooling patients' brains to 33 degrees C (mild hypothermia) for 24 ours led to a trend towards reduced brain tissue damage, says the Redwood City, California firm.
