Executive Summary
The German federal state of Lower Saxony is keen to introduce quality assured mammography at the earliest opportunity. Under current proposals, some 1 million women between 50-69 years of age will be screened, every two years, by specially-qualified office-based gynaecologist and radiologists. The proposals were last week endorsed by the Lower Saxony association of statutory health insurance physicians (KVN), the professional association of gynaecologists and the professional association of radiologists.
