Danish study: early arthritis diagnosis is cost-effective

Executive Summary
If cases of rheumatoid arthritis in Denmark were diagnosed two months earlier than under current practices, the number of patients suffering from irreversible joint damage would be reduced from 25% of all cases to 20%. This is one of the conclusions drawn in a report published last week by the Danish Centre for Evaluation and Health Technology Assessment (CEMTV), entitled "Rheumatoid arthritis - a medical technology evaluation of diagnostics and treatment".
