This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Diametrics Medical has filed a 510(k) marketing application to the US FDA for permission to add a creatinine test to the menu of assays that are run on its point-of-care IRMA SL blood analysis system. Creatinine measurements can help clinicians diagnose and treat renal diseases as well as monitor the renal status of patients in intensive care units. The IRMA system is a portable device that performs a broad range of time-critical tests at the patient's bedside, including blood gases, electrolytes, chemistries and haematocrit, in just 90 seconds.
