Executive Summary
The German national association of health insurance physicians (KBV) has elected 44-year-old Andreas Koehler as its new principal chairman, with effect from February 1. Dr Kohler, who will serve a six-year term, was the choice of all but one of the 60 voters. He replaces Manfred Richter-Reichhelm. His appointment, and that of second chairman Ulrich Weigeldt, represents something of a new era for the KBV, as it is the first time that full-time professionals have been installed in the association's senior executive posts. Medtech industry association BVMed has good contacts with Dr Kohler, and says it will continue to work closely with the doctors' association.
