There is a major need to ensure that primary care providers in Europe's rural areas have the medical equipment, resources and training needed to make up for the significant difficulties in accessing medical services. So says the Spanish society for family and community medicine (Semfyc), citing the results of a study presented at the recent EQuiP 2004 congress (Brussels, November 10-13), on the effects of such shortcomings on the care of coronary heart disease.
