Negotiations to finalise French reforms hit tough opposition

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Tensions have been mounting among French GPs and sickness insurers as Frederic Van Roekeghem, the new head of UNCAM, the organisation that oversees and co-ordinates work between the three main sickness insurance associations in France, has been trying to negotiate new contractual terms with the doctors' unions. Despite intensive talks during the first few days of December and a determination to sort out a new contract with the doctors, Mr Van Roekeghem still has a long way to go and many rebellious voices to calm.
