Executive Summary

From February 27 2005, French pharmacists will be required to write out on the original prescription the sum total of the value of products issued to all patient that are in receipt of their electronic medical cards, as well as the amount that is paid by the patient's sickness insurance fund. This measure - yet another aspect of the French healthcare reforms - was published in the Journal officiel on November 27, and will enable to authorities to monitor spending at individual and local levels.
