Denmark targets funding at radiation therapy:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Denmark's radiation therapy sector is set for a period of security and growth as the government has set aside additional funds for hospitals that carry out extra procedures, claims health minister Mr Lars Rasmussen. He added that county councils would be able to borrow more money to increase capacity by up to 50%. In response to a parliamentary question submitted by MP Jette Bergenholtz Bautrup, he said that the sector was currently being analysed by the health service to assess its capacity, organisation, recruitment and economy. Mr Lars Rasmussen said that this was all part of the government's cancer plan, publicised in March 2005, and that, upon completion and subsequent evaluation, it would be improved upon by a second plan.
