Executive Summary
VNUS Medical Technologies, the San Jose, California company that makes technology to treat varicose veins, has introduced an update to its system. The firm, which last week made its Nasdaq debut (see Clinica No 1130, p 16), is launching the next generation of the radiofrequency generator that is used with its Closure system to collapse and seal veins from within. The new version features continuous monitoring of vein wall temperature and impedance, a large colour screen, a newly designed user interface, enhanced audio tones and a multimedia card for software upgrades.
