German health minister hails success of DMPs (disease management programmes)

Over one million people have signed up to Germany's disease management programmes (DMPs) since their inception in 2001. The programmes, the brainchild of health minister Ulla Schmidt, are aimed at providing optimum care to the chronically ill, whilst cutting health service costs.
