Euro12m to create European "epigenetics" network: number of other Asian countries.

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

European researchers have received Euro12m ($15m) to establish a European Network of Excellence in "Epigenetics". The so-called Epigenome project aims to better understand the practical applications of the information derived from mapping the human genome - commonly known as the post-genome challenge. "We now need to understand how cells make sense of the DNA codes they are given to make them a particular cell with a particular job for life, and what prompts them to keep functioning normally and replicate," said the UK's Medical Research Council, which is part of the international consortium of research bodies involved.
