Executive Summary
Biophan Technologies' TE-Bio subsidiary has entered an agreement with NASA, the US aeronautics and space administration, to jointly develop high-density, nanoengineered thermoelectric materials for powering implantable medical devices such as pacemakers. It is also hoped that the technology can be used to develop on-board power for astronaut health monitors. Rochester, New York-based Biophan has a technology portfolio consisting of 80 different patents and pending patent applications either owned by the company or its licensors. Around 30% of these patents and licences were acquired in the last quarter alone, says the firm.
