The Memphis, Tennessee-based subsidiary of Smith & Nephew has announced two executive appointments. Shuichi Matsunaga has been named president of the orthopaedics division in Japan and North Asia. Most recently, Mr Matsunaga served as senior vice-president for Johnson & Johnson in Japan. In his new role, he will concentrate on the same region but will become more active in China, Taiwan and Korea in 2005. The firm has also appointed Ken Woody, formerly of General Electric and Johnson & Johnson, to the US division, in a newly created position. He has been named senior vice-president of orthopaedic global sales. He will concentrate on developing the division and implementing a global sales plan.
