Despite the fact that implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICDs) can prevent 99% of cardiac arrest cases, not even 10% of European patients who require one actually receive an ICD. This is the view expressed by the German medical devices industry association, BVMed, as it seeks to increase awareness of cardiac insufficiency, ahead of the European Cardiology Congress, in Munich this month.
