Executive Summary

The UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has issued an alert warning of the possible presence on the UK market of a falsely CE-marked tension-free (TF) vaginal tape. The fraudulent Hi-Tec BARG TF is an imitation of the Hi-Tex BARG [Bandelette Artificielle de Renfort Gynecologique] P8 polypropylene mesh vaginal tape, manufactured by Textile Hi-Tec (THT), based in Labastide-Rouairoux, France. The MHRA alert follows a similar warning issued on February 5 2004 by the French regulatory agency Afssaps.
