The Spanish government has approved the construction of two new hospitals and an Advanced Technologies Laboratory, as part of a Euros6bn ($7.3bn) infrastructure development programme for the northwest of the country. The approval of funding for the new hospital of the city of Burgos and the Hospital Comarcal de Benavente, south of the city of Leon, came with a pledge from new Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero to establish similar programmes in other underdeveloped regions as a matter of priority.
